Tusovka - Russian Rockfestival in Helsinki

Welcome to Helsinki! If you want to listen to Russian rock too. "Tusovka" has made significant work here in Finland to present Russian and former Soviet countries bands in Helsinki. More or less 60 bands!



In this page you can find all the bands Tusovka has brought to Helsinki during 15 years! So if you are in Helsinki at this time of spring, visit the festival. It is worth visiting, no doubt. And tomorrow on Sunday the Picnic for the whole family with nice Russian music in Suvilahti, worth visiting too!

So this year we will hear in Tusovka  Revolver from Petrozavodsk and Vagonovozhatye . Let's see how they are...Revolver I have heard many years ago in Joensuu, a nice student and river city in the eastern part of Finland. 80 km from the Russian border. There lots of interesting happenings during the year, fore example "Rokumentti" the Rock Film festival! If you want to chat with people, come to eastern part of Finland!

One thing...if you are interested in Russian movies, I could imagine you could be interested in Russian movie festival called "Kino Lokakuu" ("October Cinema"...info in the page in Finnish and Russian only). Usually it has been organized in October, but this year we had it in February...

By the way, if you want to eat Pulpo a la Gallega go to Bar Celta Pulperia, near the Chocolate museum on the "Calle de la Princesa". It has been one of my favorite bars in Spain since I went there for the firs time more or less 3 years ago.

LEO-NET Barcelona2: Kannatti ja kannattaa!

Kollegani oli Barcelonan LEO-NET -seminaarissa ekaa kertaa. Ja kuulosti siltä, ettei katunut.
Niin ja CIMO sekä Suomi pääsivät  muutamissa yhteyksissä mukavasti esille. Ja aihealueen CIMO-kaksikko alkoi löytää yhteistä säveltä...

Jos siis sinua kiinnostaa kokonaisuuksien hallinta, mitä tulee kokonaisuuteen "koulutus versus työelämä", niin liity ensi vuonna mukaan joukkoon!

Kv.harjoittelu on jatkossakin keskeisessä asemassa LEO-NET -seminaarissa, mutta teemaa oli jo nyt laajennettu nimikkeellä "Employability", siis "työllistettävyys" tai "työmarkkinakelpoisuus". Pohditaan siis koulutusmaailman ja työelämän välisiä yhteyksiä laajasti. Aika lailla terveellistä.

Komission kuunnalta muuten kuultiin, että globaaliliikkuvuuden päästessä vauhtiin myös harjoittelurintamalla, saapuvien ja tulevien suhde voisi olla mahdollisesti kahden suhde yhteen.

Ja selvisipä seminaarin taukojutustelujen aikana, että tässä vuosien saatossa suomalaisia opiskelijoita oli valittu harjoittelijoiksi Slovakiaan. Eli Slovakian yhteyteni harjoittelupaikkatarjoukset olivat kiinnostaneet suomalaisopiskelijoita. Ja he olivat hakeneet paikkoja. Ja heitä ko.harjoittelupaikkoihin oli myös valittu! Slovakialaisten korkeakoulujen muodostaman konsortion välittämiä paikkoja on kuulemma tarjolla viitisenkymmentä vuosittain. Eli harjoittelupaikkojen välitys Slovakiankin suunnalla kuulemma jatkuu...ja tarjolla on ehkä kohta myös pari harjoittelupaikkaa koreaa taitaville.



Niin, miksiköhän suomalaiset eivät muodosta konsortioita innokkaammin? Tämänkin perusteella on kyllä mainio tapa toimia yhteistuumin ja ainakin kv.harjoittelurintamalla... Ja myös siten että erimaalaiset konsortiot alkaisivat tehdä enemmän ja tiiviimmin yhteistyötä. Tämäkin nostettiin esille LEO-NET seminaarissa.

Niinpä-niin. Seminaarin yhteenvetoa tulee siis TraiNet.Wikipaces -sivustolle lähiaikoina...

Visiting FNAC - buying Spanish music

Yes I had the chance to visit the record store in Barcelona, a very quick visit. And maybe you already guess, I bought more or less 10 CDs. Of Catalonian music, of Basque music, of Galician music, of Spanish music - Rock and Folk.

My method of buying music. You look at some artists you already know. You buy some records, which look interesting when looking at the cover of the record, at the titels of the songs or at the instruments used in the record...

Or you can ask the shop assistant to search for you some record of certain genre. Sometimes you also here some interesting music in the record store or in the bar and at once ask from the shop assistant or from the bar tender the name of the artist. It is so simple!

Yes, I did all this and cannot wait for the possibility to hear what I have bought...

Etsimässä uusia harjoittelumahdollisuuksia suomalaisille

Keskustelemme aina silloin tällöin barcelonalaisen kollegani kanssa, kollegan jonka organisaation kautta aikoinani lähetin suomalaisia harjoittelujaksolle Barcelonaan. Silloin kun vielä lähetin CIMOn apurahoilla suomalaisia opiskelijoita tai vastavalmistuneita harjoitteluun EU-maihin ja tässä tapauksessa Espanjaan.

Organisaation nimi on Travel Work ja sillä on nyt vuonna 2020 jo 25 vuoden kokemus harjoittelusektorista!

Siis luotettava organisaatio, jos on kiinnostusta harjoittelujaksoihin Barcelonassa! Tosin kyseinen organisaatio lähettää nimenomaan espanjalaisia ulkomaille, mutta saattaa ehkä etsiä suomalaisellekin harjoittelupaikan Barcelonasta.

Niin Barcelona on tietysti yleisesti kiinnostava kohde, ja tietysti myös silloin jos on kiinnostunut pohjoisespanjalaisista kulttuureista. Tässä tapauksessa katalonialaisesta. Jos osaa espanjaa, on kiinnostavaa tavailla katalonialaisia tekstejä. Sitä ymmärtää espanjan pohjalta kyllä aika mukavasti. Samalla on mielenkiitoista mietiskellä asioita liittyen Espanjaan ja erityisesti alueiden Espanjaan: Katalonia, Galicia, Andalucia, Asturia, Baskimaa ja niin edelleen.

Tänään sain myös vinkkiä mm. parista muusta luotettavasta kv.harjoitteluorganisaatiosta maailmalla. Jos löytyisi vaikkapa kiinnostusta harjoitteluun Mauritiuksella tai Nepalissa. Mietimme espanjalaisen kollegani kanssa yhdessä myös SOMEn tarjoamia mahdollisuuksia kv.harjoittelusektorilla ja markkinoinnissakin.

LEO-NET Barcelona1: Exchanging Ideas about International Traineeships

LEO-NET Barcelona meeting begins soon. There aren't such many "happenings" in the world which are specialised in issues of international traineeships. Why so? I have thought about that already a long time. Maybe because managing traineeships or exhanging trainees is quite a complicated field?

Managing international traineeships demands from one dealing with it quite much. You need quite many years and a lot of work is required in order to become a professional in this field. This is not always understood. You must have patience, and also be motivated. I myself I think it is one of the most interesting fields in the field of exchanges, as it is so multifaceted. No doubt.

What abilities you should have when working in the field of international traineeships? When working in the sector of international traineeships you must be ready to solve small problems every now and then. You must have the ability to network wide and worldwide. You must be interested in different cultures and have the emphaty and the sympathy. You must understand the point of view of the employers, even of employers in the private sector and have the ability to negociate. It is not enough that you know the academic world and the world of exchanges very well. You must understand the connection between the two entities mentioned, the big picture, and up to that also the deepest meaning of international traineeships: Why one is doing the traineehip?

When we are talking about the traineeships and international traineehips, it is not enough that you only administrate. You have to  inspect it by your own hands, in a very concrete way. It is even better if you also yourself every now and then do a traineeship for professionals in different countries. If you live in the northern part or Europe, in the southern part. If you live in the western part of Europe, in the eastern part of Europe. If you live in Europe, then outside Europe. And also in countries others than in English speaking countries. And also in other languages than in English, if only is possible for you. It can be a shorter or a longer periode. Everything counts.

Well, I like working in the field of international traineeships. It is very motivating as it it not too easy. If you are interested to make your short traineeship period meant for a professional in the field of inrernational traineeships, for example that of STT of Erasmus you can contact me. If you wish. I have been doing this more than 20 years already...I can organize for you a visit in Finland, a study visit in the field of international exhanges. Of course  I can receive only one international visit per semester, more or less... Well, in the near future I will have one such visit from Portugal. Portugal, Welcome in Finland! Happy to cooperate! I like this kind of "happenings" as I myself learn very much too!

Barcelona: Running behind or ahead of Time...

I did not know at the first place...Well, it was some 20 years ago. I was in Barcelona during "La Mercè", the anual festival or "Festa major" of Barcelona. It is held around the 24th of September every year. I had picked up the programme of the festivities in the travel agency to know what happens around the city.

I think that specific day of 24th of September was my first day in Barcelona, or anyway the day I had also later in the evening a train to catch. Anyway I wondered until early afternoon, why I missed almost everything that is every Catalonian cultural specialty of that day marked in the programme...I missed even to see the famous Catalonian "Human Towers", the Castells. Then I understood, at this very day the clocks had been turned to winter time! Well, when noticing that I at least did not miss my train...I think after Barcelona I was heading by train to San Sebastian from the "French Station", "Estacio de França" of Barcelona...

...and the Castells I saw did not see earlier than in the year 1995, and that happened in Berlin. They in Berlin had invited to the "House of Cultures of the World", "Haus der Kulturen der Welt" or "The Mussel" or "The Conference Hall" in Berlin a Human Tower -group from Catalonia. By the way, "Haus der Kulturen der Welt" is the place where John F.Kennedy also spoke when visitng Berlin in the year 1963.

Música sefardita, folc...(Parte3)

Fue 15 o 20 años atrás cuando la primera vez me conocé a la música sefardita y a la cantautora Rosa Zaragoza. Puede ser que la cantautora fue otra, una que tuvo un concierto en Berlín en una iglesia en todo caso y el año del concierto fue 1995. No me recuerdo donde me encontré el nombre de la cantautora Rosa Zaragoza, pero fue antes este año ya...

Si no sabeís los sefardíes son los descendientes de los judíos hispano-portugueses que vivieron en la penísula ibérica hasta 1492 y que están ligados al origen étnico hispano y a la cultura hispánica. Se calcula que en la actualidad la comunidad sefardí alcanza los dos millones de integrantes, la mayor parte de ellos residentes en Israel, Francia, Estados Unidos y Argentina.

Rosa Zaragoza es una cantante y musicóloga española, de origen catalán, especializada en música sefardita (aqui para escuchar) y folclore tradicional de las culturas antiguas de España (sefardí, andalusí y cristiana). Reside en Barcelona. Me noté en Internet que ella tiene un pequeño concierto en Barcelona, cuando estoy allí. Que casualidad!

Olen jo jonkin aikaa ihmetellyt...Miksiköhän Suomesta tulee niin vähän porukkaa jokavuotiseen LEO-NET -seminaariin Barcelonaan? LEO-NET eli siis "Leveraging Education into Organizations". Olen yrittänyt tilaisuutta täällä Suomessa mainostaa, mutta näköjään huonolla menestyksellä.

Barcelona calling in a week: Messing one's motivation, business and local culture

In a week I will be heading to Barcelona. Well, Barcelona I have been visiting already more or less 10 times. And you learn every time something new. But only if you keep your eyes and ears open, if you observe well. Of course. 

In my opinion one should also during the business trips not only do business but to learn actively the local customs. That is the point. If you plan well, you can do this in most of your trips even if your time table is strict. It is a matter of your motivation and your willingness to learn new things. That is, if you as a rule wish to be an expert in issues you do or not. The Endgame: check-checkmate...It is up to you.

What is one of the most interesting issues in Barcelona, is the Catalan culture of course. There you have the possibility to listen the language of the area and learn some Catalan words, if you wish to: "Benvinguts...You are welcome...Thanks...Gràcies". If you speak Spanish and French or know these cultures, I think you do not have a hard time to learn some Catalan either. Just use your Spanish-French imagination...and the same applies to many issues in Catalonia.

Los españoles, los rusos, los nordicos...

Cuando viajas a Rusia puede ser que recibes servicio un poquito de tipo hostil en unas tiendas rusas. Ha pasado también a mí, pero menos y menos nuevamente. Esta es la tradición que origina de los tiempos sovieticos, supongo yo.

A este tipo de fenómeno nunca o casi nuca he chocado yo en España, o es más raro. A veces puede ser...si estoy insistiendo una respuesta a mí mail personal. Pero puede ser que depende de la persona y de la situación actual de esta persona. Y esta cosa de recibir una respuesta de los españoles he solucionado yo en los tiempos ultimos en otra manera, o a diversas maneras...
Desafíos en esta vida son saludables, la verdad...

Leyé un par de días atrás, una intervista de una española que había vivido ya unos años en Finlandia, que a le extreñaba como unos finlandeses en las reuniones no hablan mucho. Ella preguntolo de su colega finlandesa durante una reunión, y la colega respondió a ella "en este momento estoy pensando yo, por eso no estoy hablando ...un poquito más tarde estoy diciendo mí opinión, cuando viene mí turno". La española, a ella dijo que los españoles hablan en las reuniones todo el tiempo, y  puede ser que se sucede paralelamente...No sé si es así siempre, puede ser...vosotros españoles lo sabeís mejor que yo...

Sabes tú, y hablando de inhabitantes finlandeses. Los finlandeses tienen un poco de cáracter de este y de oeste. Depende de una persona. Pero a mí me gusta mucho que estamos entre este de oeste. Es una riquesa. Si vienes a Helsinki podemos ver pistas de ambas culturas. De las cultural suecas, po ejempo el Teatro Sueco en Helsinki ("Svenska Teatern" en sueco)...

...o el Moskva Bar (Kafe Mockva) con tipo de cortinas puntillas de los tiempos sovieticos. Por ejemplo.

 
Podemos visitarlos nosotros. O hace otras cosas. Helsinki es una ciudad cultural muy rica, sobre todos durante verano.

Los estones, el país vecino de Finlandia. Los estoneses dicen que nosotros finlandeses somos "renos". No sé si estan significando la localización norteño de Finlandia respecto a Estonia o a otra cosa, que somo a veces tontos como los renos...en extranjero se piensa que no hablar tanto es ser tonto, o algo así...Si yo visité yo un par de meses atrás Tallinna Estonia, siempre un gusto para mí...

Los rusos, según que yo he oído, les gustan en general a los finlandeses...Pero unos de ellos dicen que nosotros a veces somos demasiados lentos...Lo mismo dicen los empresarios finlandeses trabajando en Rusia, que así dicen los empresarios rusos. Pero al final los finlandeses tienen resultados laboriales bastante rápido, puede ser que más rápido que los rusos o algunos otros...Así dicen los empresarios...En todo caso sea interesante oir opinióes españoles de estas cosas, pienso yo...

Nostros finlandeses, nos gusta la música en clave menor. Los suecos, les gustan la música en clave
mayor. Así es la vida. Aquí tango finlandés muchas veces esta en clave menor. Lo más grande de todos artista de tango es el "Tango King" de Finlandia, Olavi Virta. Aquí un tango finlandés que se llama Hopeinen Kuu  (La Luna plateada). Que voz! Que sáxofono! Puedes oyer que se canta allí un poquito en español también...
