Kappale kauneinta Espanjaa...ja myös makoisinta

Näin otsikoi ja tunnelmoi Helsingin Sanomien lauantai-liite Galiciasta...

Ja en voi muuta kuin vain vahvistaa tämän. Se Galicia...ja joukkoon lisäisin myös Baskimaan, Asturiaksen...siis sitä samaa "Vihreää Espanjaa" (España Verde). Tähän joukkoon voisi myös lukea Katalonian. Tsekkaa nämä! Löytyy upeita rantoja, mutta myös viettelevää vihreyttä ja vehreyttä. Sekä sipaus sitä sopivaa karuutta. Sitä karakteeriä, ja mitä karakteeriä!

No kun puhutaan Pohjois-Espanjasta Barcelonan oletkin takuuvarmasti jo tsekannut ja ehkä Baskimaan Bilbaonkin, buumin a la Guggenheim-museo myötä. Mutta kuinka moni on matkaillut Portugalin pohjoispuolisessa Espanjassa, Galiciassa?


Niin...ruoka Pohjois-Espanjassa on ylivertaista. Näin uskaltaisin väittää. Toki tästä saa olla myös eri mieltä. Niistä pienistä vihreistä paprikoista ("Pimientos de Padrón") jo eräässä tämän blogin päivityksistä jo puhuinkin. Sitten on ne "Merelliset simpukat" ("Almejas marineras") ja kaiken kruunaa "Mustekala galicialaiseen tapaan" ("Pulpo a la Gallega").

Puhumattakaan Pohjois-Espanjan muista merenelävistä ja kalaruuista. Mustekalat Galician rantamilla ovat kuulemma erilaisia. Niiden väri on punaisempi ja maku syvempi kuin vaikkapa mustekalojen Marokon rannikon tietämillä. Tämä johtuu kuulemma merivirroista ja silleen...Ja myös ne pienet vihreät paprikat Padrónista ovat ylivertaisia. Muualtakin näitä vihreitä paprikoita saa, vaikkapa Baskimaasta tai Marokosta. Mutta näiden paprikoiden koko on isompi ja maku ei aivan niin "syvä" kuin padrónin paprikoiden.

Myös Baskimaa on kulinaarinen mekka. Ehdottomasti! Paikalliset tapakset eli "Pintxokset" eivät päästä irti otteestaan kun ne kerran näkee täydessä loisteessaan...Baaritiski täynnä upeita Pintxos-tapaksia. Mikä silmänilo ja vatsanhurma! Myös muut merenelävät maistuvat Baskien pöydästä tarjoiltuna, vaikkapa "Mustekalat omassa musteessaan" ("Chipirones en su Tinta").

Kaiken tämän kruunaava hyvä juomat elikkä Galician Rias Baixas -alueen viinit, joista jo aiemmin olenkin kertonut. Baskimaasta löytyy ikiomaa Txakoli-valkoviinä, ja Riojan viinialue ulottuu Baskimaan eteläosiin. Ja Asturias on tietysti siiderien mekka. Paikallisesti tuotettua siideriä  saa myös Baskimaasta ja Galiciasta.

Aprendiendo así más español, a veces también un poquito vasco o ruso

Como escribé en mí otro blog, en primer lugar comenzé aprender español por causa de entender mejor los menús españoles. Lo ya pasó años atrás. Hoy día si me comprende bastante bien que tipo de comidas hay en los menús. Puede ser que no identifico todo tipo de pescados o mariscos, pero a veces una buena manera también es simplemente apruebar - o preguntar cuando se ve en un restaurante una comida apetitosa en el plato de otra persona. Así se aprende también...

  
Que en España es muy bien, que normalmente la gente no en sequida comienza hablar inglés cuando oye del acento que uno es un extranjero. Puede depender de diversas cosas. Aquí en Finlandia que no me gusta es, que en todo caso algunas personas en sequida comienzan hablar inglés a un extranjero - a un extranjero que tiene esfuerzos hablar finés. Sí es cordial, y si no es cordial. Personalmente yo pienso que se tenga que valorar a los esfuerzos de un extranjero que ha usado su tiempo (y puede ser dinero también) para aprender finés. Así se tenga que tener paciencia y contestar con finés. Es la unica manera aprender idiomas, usarlos y escucharlos. Si naturalmente hay días que uno habla bien o muy bien, y días cuando uno habla peor o malo... Dependé de varias cosas. Así es la vida, uno solamente tiene que aguantarse...

Cuando estoy viajando en el norte de España me interesa observar la manera en que la gente esta hablando, el argot. Además observar a palabras escritas. Que me gusta en el norte es el uso de la letra X en palabras. Una cosa muy pequeño pero me encanta enormamente. También me alegra aprender unas palabras en vascongada (euskera), así en cada viaje estoy aprendiendo unas palabras más.

Si uno viaja a Rusia, sea bien aprender los alfabetos rusos. Facilita mucho la vida por ejemplo en St.Petersburgo. Además se puede a esta manera aprender todo el tiempo nuevas palabras en ruso. Aunque desde hace unos años el subterráneo de St.Petersburgo ya tiene los nombres de las estaciónes escritas con los alfabéticos latinos. Y muchos restaurantes ya tienen sus menús en inglés también. Yo cuando en un restaurante, normalmente estoy pidiendo los menús tanto en ruso como en inglés. Porque a veces las traducciones de las comidas no son muy exitosos, y a veces no se entiende "que es" si se quiere pedir alguna comida muy típica del país.

Festivities in Bilbao, and some #Soccer Jubilities

So the the weeks of festivities are soon in #Bilbao, in other cities of Basque countries as in San Sebastian and Vitoria already a memory...So next year. Come to the #BasqueCountry, #Euskadi in August and enjoy yourself! As do I right now in Bilbao! Basque Country (and Galicia earlier). This is something different from southern part or Spain...

Yes, #AthleticBilbao won the the "Supercopa de España" against FC Barcelona! And right now here big celebraties, Basque citizens going around in T-Shirt red-white. Very nice indeed. "Aupa Athletic Bilbao"!

You can also see here the the preparations for the "Semana Grande" or "Aste Nagusia" en Basque language.

On Friday on...yes will will see what happens during "Semana Grande"...Well, found also this Foosball or Table Football in one bar in the very heart of the Old town of Bilbao.  A bar of very basque one with heavy basque music...Come and enjoy yorself!

Once again, congratulations to one of my favorite teams in Spain. Athletic Bilbao!

They are, of course, only my thoughts as an outsider, as a foreigner and as coming from Finland. But anyway during the years I have been cooperating a lot with professionals coming from both countries, and also having an interest in cultural matters of these and many more countries. As I am introducing to you the popular music of these countries and some other cultural issues up to that.

Did you know that the Galician Food is among the best ones in Spain?

... But I begin with the drinks, so the Galician red wine and white wine. Admit me, as a foreigner you mostly think Rioja wines when talking about the Spanish wines. But there are good ones also in Galicia, as in general Ribeiro wines and wines from a Godello grape talking about the white wines or wines from the Mencia grape talking about the red wines.

And of course Albariño what the most people know when talking about the Galician wines.

I like more the wine from the Godello grape as the well known Albariño, but that is of course up to you... In Spain you can every now and then also find "cervezas naturales" or "cervezas artesanas"

 

and "Quiemada", of course, but please only in winter. So the the Queimada is a punch made from 

Galician aquardiente (Orujo).

I already talked about Pimientos de Padrón and Pulpo Gallego the other day. Which I liked also 

very much is  the "Chinchos" fish and fish like that...

and "Almejas marineras" of course

 

and "Empanada gallega" or "Galician pie".

And tomorrow we eat "Zamburiñas", my very favorites...

So go or come to Galicia to taste the Galician food! I do very often.

Harpfest Noia: Yes the Harps have a nice, relaxing Tone!

Harp, one of my favorit instruments. If you need a rest, listen to the Harpmusic. And up to that when the best of the harpists play they can rise a feeling of Heavy Metal too. When rasping their harps. Believe or not. I hope you get a possibility like that at least once in your life.

Harps you can find all over world too. In Celtic regions as Wales, Ireland, Galicia Northern Spain, in Latin America as Andean regions, Paraguay and so on...

I was yesterday in the Harp Fest Noia in Galicia Green Spain. It was organized for the second time. Nice Festival that of II Festival Internacional de Arpa Vila de Noia 4, 5 e 6 de Agosto. Enough small kind. Very nice concert in the small catedral of ancient times. You could listen there interesting harp music from Sondeseu and other Galician and international artists, as well as follow what happened in the harp work shops.

La verdad, que estoy visitando Galicia y la quinta vez! Mí primera visita 16 años atrás...

He dicho hoy que me siento muy bien. Pero tengo un sentimiento muy raro, en alguna manera rara... Es el segundo día que estoy yo aquí, pero pienso que ya desde hace una semana que estoy aquí. Oyes, así pudé realizar uno de mis sueños pequeños. Es decir visitar la fiesta de Pimientos de Padrón en Herbón. Y fue maravilloso, también gracias a mí amiga gallega...Pimientos de Padrón y Pulpo Gallego. Maravilloso!

Los sueños son cosas más importantes de tu vida. Si nos realizas, es una perdida verdadera. Es tiempo para Road-Movies, y tu estas participando en este viaje...
